Fiber test

Partner FAU recently completed a 100-meter long single-mode fiber installation outdoors and accessible from the fiber sensing lab. This setup will allow our colleagues to observe weather influences and differences between day and night.

Esther Renner, our leading researcher working on this exciting part of the project mentioned “Our advanced Raman-Distributed Temperature Sensor System will be utilized with this installation to support two EU projects, SoFiN and ICON”.

With appreciation to all colleagues involved in this work, which is a key advancement not only as an anticipation of amazing new insights that this testing phase may overall confer on fiber optic research but also the exciting new clustering door that opens for further collaboration between two important EU projects.
