Telecom Supervision

A major importance of distributed sensing lies within the field of critical infrastructure monitoring. In SoFiN, three different use cases will be applied for the innovative flexible system to be developed and these include: 1) Monitor voltage power cables, 2) Supervision of telecommunication infrastructure and 3) Supervision of water supply network to detect water pipe leakage.

This post briefly introduces the use case on the supervision of telecommunications:

Using the system, data will be collected on external impacts threatening the fiber infrastructure, e.g. fire, stress, heavy machinery in the perimeter of fiber cables that could risk fiber integrity. Investigations will be also performed to increase security of unmanned network sites.
